Basic Sugar Cookies

1 c. shortening - butter or margarine
1 c. sugar
3 eggs
3 1/2 c. flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1 1/2 tsp. vanilla

Mix shortening, sugar and eggs well, then add flour, baking powder and vanilla and roll out thin. Bake at 400 degrees for 8-10 minutes. Watch close, burn easily. Top with favorite icings. Makes 5 dozen.
