Hands On Cookies

3 c Brown sugar
3 c Margarine or butter
6 c Oatmeal
1 tb Baking soda
3 c Flour

Place all of the ingredients in a bowl. Let the children use clean child-sized wooden hammers to mash and knead. Form into small balls and place on ungreased cookie sheet. Butter the bottom of the glass.Dip the bottom of the glass into a saucer with sugar. Use the glass to flatten the balls. Bake in an oven preheated to 350 degrees for 10 to 12 minutes. Makes 15 dozen.
