Poor Man's Cookies

2 c Rolled oats
1 c Packed brown sugar
1/2 c Sugar
1 c All-purpose flour
1/4 ts Salt
1 ts Baking soda
1/4 c Hot water
1/2 c Shortening; melted & cooled
1 ts Vanilla extract

In a mixing bowl, combine oats, sugars, flour and salt. Combine soda and Roll into walnut-size balls. Place on greased cookie sheets.
