Molasses Drop Cookies

1 pn Salt
1 c Sugar
1 c Shortening
2 Eggs
1 c Baking molasses
1 ts Cinnamon
1/2 ts Nutmeg; ground
1/2 ts Cloves; ground
2 ts Baking soda
1 c Water boiling
1 ts Baking powder
5 c Flour

Sift the flour, spices and baking powder. Cream the shortening with the sugar, then add the eggs and beat well. Add the water and enough flour to make a soft dough. Drop by teaspoonfull on a greased cookie sheet, sprinkle with sugar and bake.
