Drop Sugar Cookies

2 1/2 c Sifted all purpose flour
1/2 ts Soda
3/4 ts Salt
1/2 c Butter or margarine
1/2 c Shortening
1 c Sugar
1 ts Vanilla
1 Egg

Cream butter/margarine, shortening, sugar and vanilla til light and fluffy. Add egg. Stir in dry ingrdients until mixture is smooth; slend in 2 T of milk Drop by teaspoonfuls onto ungreased cookie sheet; flatten with bottom of water glass which has been dipped in sugar. Bake in a 400 degree oven about 12 minutes. Cool.
