Greek Butter Cookies (Kourambiethes)

6 oz Unsalted butter, softened
3/4 c Sugar
1 lg Egg
1 tb Vanilla -- (or cognac)
1 3/4 c Flour
1 ts Baking powder
1/4 ts Ground cloves
Confectioners sugar

Beat butter and sugar till fluffy, then beat in egg and vanilla. Add remaining measured ingredients and chill for 1 hr. Roll into balls or crescents(@ 1in.) Bake at 350 for 10 mins. Cool and dust generously with conf. sugar.
